I've gotten used to it, but for some experienced players, it feels slow and the dodging somehow feels a bit off. I've seen people still complain about the difficulty after the patch and that both confuses and worries me a bit.Īnother issue in pacing is the movement. I thought some of it was fixed when playing new games after the patch, looting a gun from a Cult of Iron guy or from a chest, after just getting a feel for how limited the Wood Gun was, but that could have just be me, exploring more than average and getting better loot. The natural play time of the demo feels like 2 hours to me (before ending too soon), but if something important doesn't happen within the first 30 minutes or so (including time in tutorial), then it could lose players, especially if they get their impression via a free demo, rather than trying to push further because they bought the game. The pacing of the early game could be hit or miss for some players, and I can't exactly point to one thing that could be the cause, but I will point to a couple. I've ran into several YTers that talk about this issue and find it very interesting seeing the different ways this hard issue has been tackled. I'd recommend the Devs to look up some tips and tricks relating to making more natural feeling settings that ' just so happens to be a tutorial' to help with this issue. Obvious I don't mind replaying the tutorial, but also I do like looting the extra resources that you just don't get when skipping it. The much maligned standard tutorial format just seems to rub some people the wrong way, and not a small percentage of players will skip it at the risk of being utterly lost and ruining their own experience. I hate to say it because I can see the good work put into it, but while it does work well at informing and introducing basic mechanics to green players, while also showing some of the story and lore, it still only gets a passing grade by most critics using today's high standards. There are two issues, the tutorial and the early pacing. ![]() That way anyone with Acute Impatience Syndrome can also enjoy this game.Īnyway, I'm not sure if I said this before, but there is a noticable pacing issue in the game. Maybe the devs could make a Quick Start in the game, which not only skips the hazardous tutorial, but also advances the main quest past the dangerous slow start, giving the player appropriate gear for the area, pre-building several work benches in the Tower, and advancing some of the research. I do applaud his bravery for spending 1 or 2 agonizing minutes of time to hunt down this forum and sharing this accessibility issue with the devs. Just playing 15 minutes of the real start of the game could have caused a medical emergency. Just as well he quit before even starting, because I'm afraid the slightly slow game progression could have broken him. It is clear to me that he played the tutorial and wasn't able to get through the short one-and-done NPC dialogues and get to the real game he really wanted to try out. Sometimes it is so acute that it makes it hard to function at all in real life. The hell you mean? The NPCs are sparse and only say like, 3 lines of dialogue, then the rest of the 99% of the game is crafting, building, and shootin- i mean uh, casting spells? It is sad, but some people do have patience-issues. Originally posted by Memorizzi:nope, uninstalled after 5 minutes.
